Trade fair for metalworking in Stuttgart does not take place due to the corona-related economic slowdown. (May 29, 2020)
In a survey, the exhibitors decided that the AMB would not take place again until 2022. The result among 1,051 AMB exhibitors was clear: 57.6% of those questioned were in favor of the next regular AMB 2022, 30.5% for an AMB 2021 and only 11.9% saw a basis for carrying out the AMB in September 2020.
This ends speculation about the feasibility of AMB 2020. According to Messe Stuttgart, an AMB 2020 cannot be implemented with all requirements regarding hygiene, maintaining distances, limited travel options and current economic conditions.
The next regular AMB is scheduled for September 13-17, 2022 in Stuttgart. Messe Stuttgart does not want to do without an AMB event in autumn. An AMB forum is planned from 14 to 18 September, including lectures.
GrindTec 2020 was postponed to KW46 | KW48 in November. (01/03/2020)
According to the organizer, GrindTec will be postponed to November 2020 due to the problems surrounding the new Corona virus.
This was announced on March 1st, a good two weeks before the originally planned start of the fair (March 18th, 2020).
We had planned an exhibition stand with grinding machine exhibits at GrindTec in March 2020.
The new date, which should be between KW46 and KW48 and locally “in Bavaria”, is to be announced in the new week.

Dear Sirs and Madames,
here is a follow up of the EMO 2019.
Our booth was in Hall 11 Place D71.
This year there were about 2200 exhibitors and 117,000 visitors.
We look forward to welcome you to this year’s GrindTec, the international trade fair for grinding technology!
We are particularly pleased to announce as an additional highlight our new precision grinding machine ACC-450AV for the first time.
This high-quality product is another result of our many years of experience in this segment. It is characterized by the following structural properties:
– separate hydraulic and main unit to prevent the influence of thermal expansion and vibration on the material
– automatic oil lubrication of guide and slide way for long-lasting and maintenance-free operation
– excellent damping qualities of all castings due to high static and dynamic stiffness
Furthermore, we proudly present at our booth:
ACC-64CA/CAIQ | UPZ 52Li | UGM 360 NC |
Precision flat and profile grinding machine | Ultra-precision flat and profile grinding machine | Precision CNC cylyndrical grinding machine with B-axis |
Okamoto’s participation at the 2017 EMO in Hannover proved to be our most successful yet. With an exhibition stand of over 220 square metres and 3 open sides, we were able to exhibit the latest and largest machines from our programme. See full report here: Newsletter-October 2017.pdf
Ultra-high-strength materials are highly popular not only in aircraft and automobile manufacturing, but also in the mechanical engineering sector, because they are often comparatively light and at the same time very sturdy. Machine tools, however, not infrequently come up against their physical limits when processing these materials. This can be remedied by using structural parts for machinery that are made of lightweight fibre-reinforced materials. This entails mastering some serious obstacles, as evidenced by an as-yet-uncompleted research project at the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology (IPT) in Aachen which will also be on show at the EMO Hannover.

AMB Iran – an opportunity to be grabbed!
Following the lifting of economic sanctions, Iran is currently considered to be one of the world’s most attractive investment markets. The backlog of requirements relating to the modernisation of its industrial infrastructure is exceptionally great in Iran. In addition to modernising the oil industry, it is primarily the automobile construction, the chemical industry and the health sector that offer enormous market potential in terms of machine and plant engineering.

AMB is getting more international
Approximately 90,000 visitors were attracted this year by the international fair for metalworking AMB, one of the top 5 trade fairs worldwide for metal handling and processing. Every second year the AMB Trade Fair is hosted in the Hightech-Region of Stuttgart. This year again more than 1.450 exhibitors from 33 countries showcased together with Okamoto the latest development in machine tools.
According to the Fair Organiser the number of international visitors increased by 3 percent compared with the fair from 2 years ago. Approximated 15 percent of the visitors come from 80 different countries. Most of the foreign guests came from neighbouring countries like Austria and Switzerland, closely followed by Italy, Scandinavia and France. Most foreign exhibitors came from Switzerland, followed by Italy, Spain, Austria, Japan and Taiwan. The percentage of foreign companies increased also this year to a total of more than 1/4th or 26 percent of all exhibitors.
Chances and Risks
All machine manufacturers are closely watching the current global well known hot spots with a cautious eye and see both chances as well as high risks for their further business development. In Eastern Europe the development in Hungary, Poland and the Baltic stats look promising – while the business with Russia, Iran and central Asia are still slow – partly due to the political sanctions as well as to the unclear future development in these countries.
Many companies visited Okamoto
The number of visitors that were interested in high class products of Okamoto increased again! Okamoto had showcased 3 new grinding machines and the new rising start the AeroLap machine for easy lapping for various shapes and surfaces. Visitors were especially impressed with the first class quality of our proverbial high precision machines and low running costs!
